Blast Equipment Rentals
Used to refine or roughen a surface to meet finish requirements, industrial surface blast equipment is also used to clean, strengthen, or prepare surfaces for additional processing. Blast equipment includes sandblasters and abrasive blast machines to clean and prepare all types of surfaces. They work by directing a stream of abrasive particles against a surface or a part.
In the surface preparation business for over 90 years, Dawson-MacDonald offers a full line of shot blast equipment, wet blast equipment, wheel blast equipment, and vacuum systems. We are a partner of preference for media blasting rentals and dry ice blasting rentals.
Types of Blast Equipment Rentals Available
In industrial surface preparation, there are several types of blast equipment available for rent. Among the most common are:
- Media Blasters: A media blaster is a blast gun that emits some type of abrasive media. Combining the media with compressed air, specialized equipment quickly prepares a surface for finishing or other purposes.
- Portable Shot Blasters: Portable shot blasters propel abrasive media at a surface, recycle the media, and then remove the waste material with a dust collector. The whole process is nearly dust-free. Shot blasters can remove rust, paint, and other debris from the surface of the metal, leaving it clean and ready for painting or other treatments. It can also be used to roughen up a smooth metal surface to improve the bonding strength of coatings or adhesives.
- Ice Blasting Equipment: Ice blasting machines use compressed air and dry ice pellets to loosen and remove debris and contaminants from a surface. Carbon dioxide gas from the dry ice safely dissipates into the atmosphere leaving behind no residue. For ice blasting equipment rentals, Dawson-MacDonald has partnered with Coulson Ice Blast, producers of machines that blast with real ice — the same ice used for drinks. The Ice Storm90® uses ice as the cleaning medium, generating no airborne contaminants and minimal waste.
The low cost and availability of blasting media translate to efficient and effective cleaning, degreasing, and burring.
